This week I am staying at a beach house in Ocean Grove. Instead of a fun planned holiday, it has become a week of convalescence after a month of on/off illness. I’m grateful to have the space and time.

I’ve noticed that the viruses going around this year are lingering for a lot of us. I’ve seen (and experienced) more chesty coughs, sinus congestion, secondary infections, vomiting and post viral fatigue than usual.

We’ve all had to change plans, go in different directions and s l o w d o w n in response. I’m prioritising tending my immune system and nervous system with sunshine, fresh air, steam baths/saunas, gentle movement and lots of soft places to rest.

I’ve also been receiving and giving osteo treatments that support lymphatic drainage and focus on shifting the viral load so the body can heal and recover.

We’ve just passed the solstice again - the moment when the sun stands still in it’s trajectory across the sky. It reached its lowest point here in the southern hemisphere on 21 June and travels higher each day now. There is still a lot more cold wintry weather to live with, but the daylight is lengthening. I really appreciate this change in light.

This month I’m reflecting on what has changed for me since the last solstice in Dec 2023… who am I becoming? what nourishes and supports me? what inner work will I continue in the winter months?

Go softly and slowly until next month,
