I’m keeping calm and close to home this month while I’m on call to support another family through birth and beyond. Waiting in liminal time seems fitting in this season of early darkness, low light, mist and memories.
While I wait, I’ve been collaging and drawing - both for the creative expression, and to gift to friends going through big transitions.

While I wait, I’m learning to tolerate uncertainty, to loosen my sense of routine and control, to trust the mystery and complexity of our bodies and their timing. Or perhaps I’m unlearning the need to be so careful, structured and intentional all the time.
While I wait, I’m listening to podcasts, including this conversation about Remembering How to Play. I loved the reminder to do things you’re not very good at / to avoid narrowing into only a few things you’re skilled at. It’s important to explore things just because you enjoy them... tinkering, experimenting, failing and trying again and again.

Updated kitchen and haircut, May 2026
While I wait, I’m arranging the contents of our new kitchen cabinets, admiring the golden afternoon light on our new tiles, being patient with the list of jobs to finish off the kitchen, and enjoying the freedom and buoyancy of shorter hair.
