Welcome to the space between. The time of **no longer and not yet**. When we unravel and regenerate. *How are you feeling?*

I feel like I’m oscillating… trying to be spacious and let things gently unfold, while also being tossed into action by the weather, devastating news, other’s needs and big emotions, and a sudden virus.

I’m floating in the **interstitial space** in my body - the loose fluid weave between the cells and the tissues that supports and nourishes. The transitional space where things come undone and dissolve into nutrients again. Form and unform.

The season here is shifting into **biderap** \- dry and hot. We are still in the longest days of solstice, slowly turning towards late summer/lammas. I’ve been recovering from a snotty new year illness, spending slow time with my family, meandering through the long summer days of busy work and day dreams…

I’m reminding myself that there are so many new beginnings - the start of a new calendar year doesn’t have to feel urgent. We can [drop out of the New Year race](https://jengland.substack.com/p/dropping-out-of-the-new-year-race), attend to what’s needed and allow our body to meet the year when and how it wants.

The lessons of 2025 in collage

My **sense of the year ahead**: big changes all around me, slower inner shifts within me. An opening up, trusting the steady structures I have built so I can allow fast free movement, creativity, variety. Learning to do less to facilitate more. Letting off steam in frequent cool burns, to avoid accumulating combustible frustration.

My body’s desires for this year: climb a mountain, cycle by a river, immerse in cold water, shape clay on a wheel, draw with large bold charcoal strokes, dance with change, find joy in the adaptations.

My values for 2026: connection and generosity.
