If you know me, you know I'm always interested in learning more about our bodies and our health. This month I've been researching **pro-metabolic** foods and lifestyle choices. Basically this means eating and balancing your daily life for *increased cellular energy, metabolic repair and enjoyment.*

[This is my favourite resource](https://therootcauseprotocol.com/handbook-download/?ref=emilymorter.com) at the moment. There are a lot of interesting details about the mineral balance in your body, particularly magnesium, copper and iron. But I especially like the focus on simple choices that reduce stress and disruption to your metabolism, not only changes to diet.

It resonates with my philosophy that small daily habits add up to big life changes over time. I just finished reading Jodi Wilson's book [**practising simplicity**](https://practisingsimplicity.substack.com/), and she puts it beautifully, "*when we believe that there is hope in our habits and our homes, in the things we do each day, anything seems possible*".

My daily habits include:

- eating every 3-4 hours to keep my blood sugar balanced
- eating enough protein, carbs and fats for satiety
- a daily dose of Vitamin C and sunshine
- saying 'no' to extra stressors when possible
- short afternoon naps when needed/ possible
- walking outdoors every day

This is my foundation, at this time in my life. Your foundational needs may look different.

And of course there are many other things I am curious about - reducing processed oils in my diet, trying organic beef liver to boost minerals and Vitamin A, filtering and re-mineralising my drinking water, limiting blue light exposure before bed...

But I have found that doing less usually works best for me. And I know this is an ongoing process. *There is no end point to health*. You don't suddenly achieve metabolic health or eradicate stress from your life forever.

Releasing tension and stress is a vital habit for many of us, so don't forget to make time for a few daily stretches and maybe an osteo session soon.

I'm excited to welcome you into the studio space when you next visit. Yes! It is finally complete.

Much love,

Emily
