# Change is inevitable

I had short stay in Bundeena earlier this month and spent time **connecting with Dharawal country**… sunrise walks, outdoor bathing, ocean swims, visiting ancient sandstone engravings and sacred trees.

At home in Melbourne, we are almost at the balance point of autumn **equinox** \- day and night are equal length exactly on 22 March this year.

Although we’ve experienced more humidity lately, the Wurundjeri season of **iuk** can be felt in the cool mornings and the autumn rains that bring grasses back to life and insects out of the ground to sing loudly each evening.

The wisdom of this season is about *harvest, change and letting go*. This doesn’t always feel easy, particularly in our emotional lives. I often cling to familiar patterns when I feel things changing, as if hanging on will slow down the inevitable. But the cycles happen to us no matter what we do, so being a little intentional can ease the process.

We are also physically changing our space this autumn - cooking and eating outdoors while we **renovate our kitchen.** It certainly brings more awareness to the shifts in light and temperature each day, as well as pushing emotions to the surface as we let go of old belongings and habits, and open up space for something new.

March is my daughter’s birthday month and we’ve been **celebrating twelve years** \- with family dinners, a special breakfast, the moonlight cinema, and a picnic with friends.

I love every age she’s been and feel curious and excited about her twelve year old self. Perhaps my wholehearted approach to parenting - enjoying the growth and change and steady letting go - can teach me to move through other transitions in my life with more ease.

She says its been the best birthday ever and she can feel her whole adult life ahead of her now…
